Invitation for Japanese Gastric Cancer Association

Dear Colleague, On behalf of the Japanese Gastric Cancer Association, I am pleased to invite you for joining the Association as an International member.
The Japanese Research Society for Gastric Cancer was established in 1962, and it played important roles on promoting basic and clinical research on gastric cancer. It was a closed association organized by 352 leading institutions in Japan. In 1997, the organization was changed to an open association composed by individual members. Name of the new association is the Japanese Gastric Cancer Association (JGCA). JGCA is principally a Japanese scientific association and the official language is Japanese. However, JGCA accepts International members from foreign countries who have interest to join our activities.
Followings are major activities of the JGCA:
【1】 Japanese Gastric Cancer Congress
The 84th Congress will be held in Feb 8ｔｈ-10ｔｈ, 2012, in Osaka organized by Dr. Toshimasa TSUJINAKA.
The following congress will annually be held in every February by a Congress President. We will accept English abstract, English presentation, and English discussion by International members.
【2】 Journal publication "Gastric Cancer" by the Editorial Committee
"Gastric Cancer" is an official journal of the JGCA and International Gastric Cancer Association (IGCA).
This is an international journal in English language, in size of A4, of approximately 100 pages per issue, and of quarterly publication. This journal is due with a initial circulation of 3,000 and later expansion up to 5,000. All the members can receive the journal and send manuscripts.
【3】 Publication of "Japanese Manual of Gastric Carcinoma" by the Manual Committee
JGCA published the 14th Japanese edition in 2010 and the 1st English edition in 1995.
【4】 Nationwide registry of gastric cancer patients by the Registration Committee
The nationwide registry was organized in 1963. Almost 15,000 data of new patients were collected every year using personal computer system. This program are now developping.
【5】 Other activities
JGCA are promoting basic and clinical study with cooperation of IGCA and WHO Collaboration Center for Gastric Cancer. All the members can get information from these international organizations. All the members will contribute in activities of JGCA; particularly in election of the council members every two years, and approval of various activities and decisions.
Member fee is 12,000 Yen. The price is not different between Japanese and International members.
If you would like to join the Japanese Gastric Cancer Association, please complete the application form, and send it to the following Association Office together with the one-year membership fee, 12,000 Yen.
